Sustainability has been part of the vision behind La Mugletta from the very beginning:<\/strong> a home that blends into the landscape, uses resources thoughtfully, and is in harmony with its surroundings.<\/p>\n Even during construction, we focused on natural materials, the renewable resource wood (the load-bearing structure is made of X-LAM), and high energy efficiency<\/strong>; the house has an energy efficiency rating of A<\/strong>.<\/p>\n We do not use fossil fuels.<\/strong> We heat and cool our home with a geothermal heat pump, cook with electricity, and\u2014since the end of 2025\u2014have also been generating our own electricity with our solar power system. LED lighting, rainwater harvesting, and the mindful use of energy and water are just as much a part of our daily routine as consistent waste sorting. <\/p>\n We live in a region that has so much to offer\u2014and that\u2019s exactly what we want to highlight and support. For breakfast, we focus on seasonal and regional products, preferably from organic farms. Whenever possible, we add fruits and vegetables from our garden. Honey from our bees and homemade jams are just as much a part of the meal as our homemade sourdough bread usually is. And, of course, we\u2019re happy to share with our guests which restaurants, wineries, olive oil mills, and small local businesses we particularly enjoy ourselves. <\/p>\n If you’re traveling by electric car, you can charge your car here. And if you choose to travel by public transportation, you can use our regular bicycles for free during your stay. <\/p>\n And because, for us, sustainability isn\u2019t limited to the environment and resources\u2014it also includes social engagement<\/strong>. Once a year, La Mugletta becomes a gathering place for music, good food, wine, and wonderful encounters at our benefit concert in support of the Associazione Nazionale Cornelia de Lange<\/strong>. Everyone involved participates free of charge, so that all proceeds from the event go to the CdLS Parents\u2019 Association in Italy. <\/p>\n We are, of course, pleased that this approach is also recognized externally: La Mugletta is recognized as a sustainable partner business of the Euganean Hills Regional Park under the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (CETS\/ECST Part II by Europarc)<\/strong>.
